- Handmade; hand pressed; hand glazed; hand buffed; no two alike.
- Treatment Name: Buffed Engobe. Details: a brown slip glaze (aka engobe) was applied as the base color, then a white slip glaze was applied on top of the brown base. The white surface glaze was buffed (sanded) to expose some of the brown base and the red clay and to emphasize the design. The tile was fired. After that, a clear glossy glaze was sprayed on and the tile was fired again. This is a complicated treatment and slip glazes have been used for thousands of years.
- Tiles are 3" x 3", 1/2" thick.
